Don’t Let Suspicion Rob Your Position
“They have given David credit for ten thousands, but to me they have given credit for only thousands! Now what more can he have but the kingdom?” And Saul eyed David with suspicion from that day on.” 1 Samuel 18:8-9
Over the last few weeks I have found myself sensing a deep burden before the Lord, as I believe we are moving into a great season of invitation within the Body.
A season where God is desiring to reveal and remove, from amongst His sons and daughters, one of the greatest hindrances to growth and maturity of His Bride….
suspicious eyes.
Suspicion. It doesn’t stand by itself.
It’s the middle man that flows from unrepentant jealousy and can lead to attempts of destroying, defaming or disempowering another from their God-given position, role or assignment. (1 Sam. 18:11)
Suspicious eyes are those that roam and unjustly monitor another’s life, with envious disapproval of their success and influence gained.
As Christians, we must use great discernment in this hour to see through this tactic of the enemy in the church and the overarching purpose of why it is launched:
eyes of suspicion + increased competition = hindering of the Great Commission.
In our role as the New Testament church to go and make disciples in these last days..….the reality is that we’ll only ever be as committed to the place of discipleship as we are willing to champion God raising up and using others.
As believers marked with an Ephesians 4:13 destiny of unity and maturity in Christ….
We must become protectors of the Kingdom going forward through the blueprints, timing and manner that God desires.
We must devote ourselves to the assignments that we’ve been called to and champion those that others carry.
We must pursue repentance quickly and honestly to build with clean hands and a pure heart.
We must learn how to stand guard against the presence of envy and a suspecting spirit in our midst.
Saul didn’t start out suspicious of David’s influence….. He started out jealous of David’s victories.
A jealousy that blinded his eyes from the reality that they were fighting for the success and expansion of the same Kingdom.
There is always a progression.
Envy and suspicion that results in malice.
or
Humility and unity that results in maturity.
A great season of invitation is upon us.
A shift that the harvest requires.
